Boothroyd relieved with victory
More problems for Coventry boss Coleman
Watford manager Adrian Boothroyd was pleased with the 2-1 win over Coventry on Saturday, but didn't believe his team had played well.
His side's fist win in nine attempts put the Hornets back within a point of an automatic promotion place.
But an eighth draw in that run of games looked very much on the cards when Coventry's Leon Best cancelled out Nathan Ellington's early opener.
But Tommy Smith restored the lead with 11 minutes to give the Hornets a vital win.
Gradually worse
A relieved Boothroyd said: "I thought it was a terrific start and I thought we got gradually worse.
"We allowed them back into the game, they had opportunities to score, they scored the goal and then it was about grinding out a result and we managed to do that.
"For me, it was important that we did get the win today and I said to the players at the end 'well done on the win, but we all know that's not good enough for us, for what we've come to expect'.
"But it's a very strange game where you can play really well for a run of games and end up drawing and then you don't play particularly well for the whole of the 90 and you end up with a win."
Coleman
Coventry boss Chris Coleman was disappointed and surprised by the defeat, with Smith's winning goal coming from a Daniel Fox lapse.
The defeat leaves the Sky Blues in 18th in the table, only three points above the drop zone.
Coleman said: "As disappointed as I was with the first-half performance I was equally happy with the second half.
"We're obviously very disappointed with the result and to give away the goal that we did, it was a cheap goal to give away. Danny Fox has been excellent for us and it's not like him to make a mistake like that.
"But in the second half it was all us and I felt we were going to win the game.
"Even when we got the goal back we never sat back, we kept going for the winner and we were surprised and disappointed when we conceded the second goal."
